The lip balm, a product used mainly in winter, contains substances that you wouldn’t agree to take contact with your skin. These include petrolatum, better known as Vaseline. It has no nutritional value to the skin and can interfere with the body’s natural hydrating mechanism.
This triggers the skin drying and the peeling phenomenon.
If you want to have an organic balm free of toxic ingredients or preservatives, easy to prepare and that keeps your lips well moisturized, here’s how to prepare it by yourself:
– 100 g of bees wax
– 50 ml of coconut oil or olive oil
– a few drops of essential oil (optional)
Grate the beeswax and place it in a glass jar. Add the coconut oil. Pour water in a kettle enough to cover one third of its height and put it to a boil over medium heat. Place the jar with the mixture in the water bowl and stir until you obtain a homogeneous liquid.
Remove the jar from the water, let it cool, then add 5-10 drops of essential oil. Place the preparation in a container that closes tightly. Keep it refrigerated.
